This line from the book sums it up pretty concisely:

"We're all more than the person we show to everyone else"

Any person can be anything but behind that front, we all can be something else entirely.

Verdict: I was maybe looking for something more in the book and didn't find it in the end but that's good because that means I didn't have the book figured out beforehand, and that then what's the point of reading and anyway, mostly I loved the story and how it's able to connect the different characters to one another that makes perfect sense when you put everyone in like the same place.
