QnA (selfie edition)
Q: Weirdest thing I believed as a child?
A: When I was 4 and in kindergarten, my mother would make me believe that my teacher's eyes could strike me with lightning just to get me to study. At 4, who wouldn't believe their mama?
Q: Most horrifying moment?
A: The first time I got my period.
Q: What got me to reading?
A: Because my mother traumatized me into studying, more specifically reading, I actually learned to read real quickly. When I was 5, my mother enrolled me in Grade 1 and the only reason I got accepted was because by that time I could already read better than the 7-8 year olds. My mother must have realized that I got a 'knack' for reading so she made it her mission to make sure I had time to read, read, and read. I must have read every story in every textbook each school I attended gave me. I don't remember what got me to love reading though. I mean, I should hate reading considering all those traumas I suffered. But, no.
Q: Weirdest habit ever?
A: I do the sign of the cross before I sleep at night at least 3 times. Then I'd get paranoid, wondering if I've done the sign already so I'd do it again. (My roommate caught me doing this in my sleep. She claims I did it at least 20 times!)
Q: Most favorite Filipino food?
A: Balut.
Q: What annoys me the most?
A: Having to wait.
Q: Year I would turn back to if I could?
A: 2007, I applied for a job and in so doing I lied about my age. I was 15. I would like to go back there and tell my colleagues that I lied and how old I actually was at the time. They did not deserve to be lied to. I was awful. Am.
Q: Saddest moment?
A: I was the third to graduate highschool among my siblings. When my kuya graduated, he had everything he asked for, including college immediately after. When my ate graduated, she was able to leave for Cebu to study. Needless to say, she also had what she asked for. Granted, my parents had money off my father's retirement a couple years ago so they were able to give my older siblings the kind of education they wanted and all that. I knew we had not enough money left by the time it was my turn so the only thing I asked my mother for graduation was a hairnet. Just that. I asked her where it was on the day of graduation, and she said she forgot to buy one. I went to the other room and I cried. I know it was immature and I was such a baby to be feeling that way but at the time, it felt like I wasn't as important as my siblings.
Q: Happiest moment?
A: My college graduation. The previous four years had been the most trying for me and my family so getting through those times and coming out to the other side with something that means success meant so much to me and my parents. And for me to have done and given something like that for them and to have been the first one to do so in my family is the greatest achievement I have so far. Seeing them proud made me look back on my struggles before and kinda helped me make sense of a lot of things: struggles, rejections, depressions. That what you go through only makes it much sweeter when you come out of it later on. It made me appreciate the work that I and my parents have done to help me get to that point. My happiness came from knowing that I've given my parents a gift knowing that they have done right by me by virtue of me doing right by them.
Q: What most girls love to do that I don't?
A: First thing that comes to mind is makeup but I realized I don't really hate it, I just don't have the energy and creativity to wear them. My best answer to this probably is putting so much stuffs in my bag. Most girls can literally live off the contents of their bags for like a week but I loathhhe it! The reason I usually buy small bags is so that I can't possibly put so much in there, because I just refuse to wear bags that are heavy. If I don't need something in a day, that's not going in my bag.
Q: New weird habit?
A: I usually can't sleep until late into the night. Around 11pm-1am if I'm still up, what I do is get off the bed, out the room (because you don't want your roommate seeing you at your weirdest), and dance like a crazy, stupid person. Everyone knows I'm not into dancing, but weirdly dancing makes me super happy if I do it alone. Because, seeing other people dance just makes me feel depressed. That's how bad I am at it. Like, the worst! Plus dancing makes you tired so I can sleep more easily afterwards.
Q: What I'm into today?
A: YouTube vlogs (: FYI: the answer is what gave me the idea to write something like this in the first place, that's why I'm putting it last.
