High School Alumni Homecoming 2013

I had to wait six long years before I had a great alumni homecoming experience and, thankfully, it was all worth it. Although it was a little bit ironic because all of my best friends in high school were a no-show, and basically everyone who was present I only knew by appearance and yet I had the best Alumni Homecoming, ever. Granted, all the past homecomings weren't contenders, but I really, really enjoyed this one. It's just a shame none of those close friends came to share the experience.

The high school homecoming had now been held for two consecutive years at the school campus. Not that a venue is that important because wherever the venue is, it just serves as the meeting place for the home comers because the real enjoyment is actually set at someplace else. Ours was at some gas station. Epic place, right?  Lols. And I'm actually laughing out loud right now because I used to be one of those people who thought gas stations are cheap. Well, I'm cheap now. I can admit to that. Another confession: Twice now, in my life, I was forced to drink. Don't get me wrong, 'forced' by circumstances, not by people. The first time was at a wake when I almost turned 18 and the loser at the playing cards table had to drink a bottle of beer. I was always the loser at that table. Granted, I was playing against the pros. I quit playing before I got drunk that time. This time, I probably got 'genuinely' drunk, I'm not really sure, but if your brain starts to get foggy and you can't stop talking and laughing no matter how hard you tried at the drinking table means drunk, then yeah, I was drunk. I believe it's a great time to get drunk, though. But not too drunk to remember how talkative I got, more talkative than usual. I remember laughing like crazy, mostly with the boys. Girls tend to talk more things I can't relate to than boys.

We all agreed to head home when the clock almost said 3 in the morning. My luck continued when one of my fellow alumni offered to give me a ride home with his motorcycle. My how-to-get-home- problem solved. Another alumni came with us just for the fun of it. Luckily for them, there were some foods left over from the Fiesta celebration which technically happened just a few hours ago, so I was able to give them something. I don't have so many things in common with them, you see, I was never in the same classroom with either of the two, but we talked and laughed and talked some more. It is weird and a lot of time, I caught myself wondering why I was with them, but I had so much fun to really dwell on that. I couldn't shake them off until it was a little after 4, at which time my mother had awakened due to our noise I'm sure, and my body badly needed a bed. Their names, Michael John and Raquel. I know the girl mostly because we graduated from the same elementary school too. I won't forget them anytime soon.

By the way, did I say I turned up at the campus twice tonight? The first time, I was with my younger brother - I let him come with me to play pc games, while I did what I do on the web at the internet cafe near the high school campus - because honestly, I really didn't know if I wanted to attend the homecoming or not yet so I decided why not check it out first. I wouldn't get inside because of my brother, who is very minor, so I stood outside across the gate waiting for a miracle, maybe my sister to come and get this brother of mine when a senior classmate I wasn't close to popped up telling me he was waiting for others to arrive. That started the night on the wrong footing because a classmate that I really, really knew was something I thought I needed to convince me to attend the event. He said there wasn't anyone inside yet. Strike two. We talked some, and the next thing I knew, I was getting my brother home - the 'miracle' in my sister never happened.- and getting right back to the party. Isn't it ironic? The classmate couldn't have been the reason I came back.  And for the life of me, I don't know what. Maybe I'm just a sucker for old lives.

I had a wonderful night, or day. Need I say that?

Sharing with you some of the shots of the night:
