Being a fangirl

Meet one of my idols, Rachel Anne Daquis.

These were taken last year. I asked a friend who's also a big fan of her have her sign my two copies of the October 2014 issue of FHM where she graced the front cover.

RAD, as she is known to her fans, is one of the hottest volleyball players in the country today. But the year I saw her on TV (2009), she was only mostly known within the sport's community. The first game I saw her play was in a conference of the Shakey's VLeague for Far Eastern University against the then rookie squad of Ateneo de Manila University. She was already a graduate but she remained in the Lady Tams squad for the whole duration of that tournament "supposedly" per UAAP 5 maximum playing years for each player (though I don't claim to know anything about that, just the fact haha).

Although as of today one of my dreams is to see her in person, my admiration for her was not instant. I didn't like her, in fact. As I've said before, the Ateneo team was a rookie team (meaning, it was composed of rookies) and I always root for the underdogs - except when it's Roger Federer or the Cleveland Cavaliers, of course.

I know it in my heart that one day I'll be able to see her play, in flesh. But for now, my signed magazine and these pictures will have to suffice, even though she tragically spelled my name wrong. haha

Also, another good thing that's come out of this is I got to know new really great people. I hope that when I do get to see her, it will be with them.
